"When designing my first State of Liberty Range, I found broadening my size range quite challenging, but, a lot of thought goes into my patterns. I think a lot about the needs of my customers and tackle it in the same way I do when constructing costumes. I really love being able to be an inclusive label, catering to all shapes, sizes and nationalities.

All our sisters deserve to feel and look beautiful. Lingerie became my own State of Liberty and I am so happy you girls are finding yours too!"

Our Founder

Every amazing talent has a beginning, where their passion was ignited by a moment or a special person. Samantha's beginning, started, as a toddler, sitting under her German Mother's sewing table, while she was creating another outfit for one of her 7 children to wear. Although money was tight, her mother taught her how to always, always, source Quality Fabrics and Trimmings, how to work with their texture, composition and flow to suit the purpose of her creation, to be able to look at a garment to understand and see how it has been composed and from that to be able to create a pattern, to sew (both by hand and machine, always a Pfaff) to such a standard that the stitching on the inside of a garment was just as perfect as the outside. With a look, Samantha knew whether her creation was upto standard, or not, because there was no excuse to create something less than perfect and to use fabric that was less quality because it was cheaper, was sacrilegious. The most important thing, both Samantha's parents taught her, is that community and the people around you matter and that you share what you have and use your strengths and talents to uplift and support those who don't have what you have.

Besides a very fortuitous beginning, Samantha has worked within the Fashion and Creative Arts Industry for over 20 years perfecting her talents in costumery ranging from television, theatre, burlesque, swimwear, lingerie and ballroom. Working on some of TV's biggest hits, including Dancing with the Stars, Renovation Rumble and I'm a Celebrity get Me out of Here. Samantha has also worked with Hugh Jackman on his Broadway To Oz tour and costumes, alterations, fittings and wardrobe for television and theatre shows including recent productions of The Little Shop of Horrors and Fiddler on the Roof.

After studying Visual Merchandising, Samantha moved into visual merchandising prop maker and has worked on many amazing projects such as the animated Annual Myer Christmas windows, Chanel Emporium, and department store displays for YSL and Armani make up, Marcs, Cue, Trenery, Sheridan and Peter Alexander, amongst others.

Samantha has that rare talent of being able to envision the design and construction from a clients brief to masterfully construct beautiful works of art, make the patterns, sews the samples and oversee manufacturing in a very broad range of areas within the creative arts and fashion industry. Each stage is completely overseen by the designer so you can be assured of a high end custom finish.
